Industrially prepared dog food or a doggy bag after dinner?
As its master, you know that your dog soon makes up its mind. Understandably, the guests at Reggy the chef’s restaurant
went in search of fresh, healthy food, prepared the traditional way. Devised and made exclusively for their pooches.
Inspired by this demand, Reggy set up DoggyBag.
University-based animal food specialists
helped create the ideal combination of ingredients and the recipe. The result? Fresh and healthy food for the family members that we call pets.
Barking guinea pigs
DoggyBag means fresh, healthy, balanced food. But do dogs like it, too? We served a number of dogs our meals for some time. The result? Shiny, happy dogs. Dogs with a wagging tail, a glossy coat and healthy bowel movements.
Dogs enjoy DoggyBag and the science behind our recipes ensures long-term good health.
Hearty asset!
We prepare all our meals exclusively with offal, specifically heart meat. It’s odd that offal is looked at somewhat askance. Many starred chefs even put it on the menu.
Offal contains more nutrients than muscle meat. It is an important source of vitamin B and C and also contains a lot of fat-soluble vitamins such as A, D and K, as well as animal proteins.
Animal fat provides the nine essential amino acids necessary to function.
And to top it off, with offal we serve lots of minerals. Magnesium, iron, selenium and zinc can all be found in heart meat.
Taste and quality guaranteed.

Fresh from the chef!
Withdog food, content is more important than form. As long as the composition is right and high-quality ingredients are used, there is no difference between wet and dry food. Both forms have their advantages and disadvantages. So the question is not which of the two is best. It is more a matter of what both master and dog prefer.
As the master, you might go for dry food. Because of the price, convenience, rather limited smell and better hygiene in and around the bowls. But these arguments don’t matter to dogs. And that’s what our chef thinks, too. No dog has ever requested dry food. Literally. So we serve it fresh. If they have the choice, dogs choose DOGGYBAG (or other wet food). Because it triggers their well-developed sense of smell more than dry food, it tastes better to them.
With fresh food, your dog automatically absorbs more moisture. Wet food is the right choice for dogs that don’t drink much.
DoggyBag can pay a key role in the fight against overweight, as well. Dogs like to eat large amounts. With kibble, the calories are very concentrated. Large amounts of dry food have a negative impact of their weight. With DoggyBag, you serve them a large meal with just enough energy. So your dog has a delicious (big) meal that provides the ideal calorie intake.
Weigh it up for yourself.
Together with the university research team, DoggyBag went in search of the ideal balance.
Proteins, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins and trace elements are the most
important nutrients.
But exactly how much of these nutrients can a dog absorb
and process at most?
A balance of all these ingredients provides energy and supports the vital
functions. But enough is enough.
Compare it with a 600 g entrecôte. You might think it’s delicious, but
it’s impossible to work all nutrients into that piece of meat. And if your meal consists solely of meat, you miss out on other important nutrients. A balanced diet is the key to an ideal weight for your shiny, happy dog.
How old does my puppy/dog have to be to be able to eat fresh food?
As soon as your dog is nine months old, you can give it fresh food. For some breeds, it may even be a little earlier. If you’re unsure, contact your vet.
No-one knows your best friend better than you!
Like all dietary guidelines, ours too are very general and based on averages. So they do not always apply for every dog. Your dog relies on its master to determine its ideal menu. And on DoggyBag.
Let us have the weight, the number of hours’ daily exercise and whether or not your dog has been sterilised or castrated. This information is worth its weight in gold when personalising a dog's menu.
How much food should I give my castrated/sterilised dog?
Your dog’s nutritional needs alter after this procedure. As a general rule, a dog needs 20% less food than before castration/sterilisation. But how big the change is for your dog depends on the breed, age, health and level of activity.
DoggyBag bears in mind this general rule. But above all, keep a careful eye on your pooch and anticipate if this seems necessary. And even if your dog seems a little lazier after the procedure, keep it moving. That way, you ensure it a long, fit and vigorous life.
The 20-40-60-80-100 rule.
Switching abruptly to a new diet can make your dog stressed and cause digestive problems. So start with 20% new food mixed with its familiar diet. On day 2, increase it to 40% and so on. That gives your dog five days to adapt.
Is that still too fast? Then halve the pace.
A snack between its teeth.
A snack is always a treat! We took that into account in our research. We allow a 10% margin for a snack when calculating the recommended amount. A good snack is not only tasty and provides variation in the diet, but it’s also good for your dog’s teeth.
No shit, Sherlock! What exactly is in DoggyBag?
Let’s start with what is not in it: preserving agents. Our food is fresh. You can keep it for 12 days in the fridge and for six months frozen.
What you will find in it.
Choline
+ plays a very important role in neurocognitive development and reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease and bone fractures.
Carbohydrates
+ although dogs can do without them, they are a good source of energy. So rice is an ingredient in our recipes. Plus rice is gluten-free.
Fruit and vegetables
+ provide healthy vitamins and minerals. Not all sorts are suitable. Some are even dangerous. So our meals have the right selection of fruit and vegetables in the right quantities.
+ boost the immune system, ensure fresh breath and calm your dog’s stomach.
Who let the dogs out?
Exercise is essential for dogs, as well. Preferably in the countryside. Countryside that deserves respect.
